Last Tuesday, July 28, the Board of Directors of Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary gathered in person for its annual board meeting. This yearly gathering provides an important opportunity for board members, faculty, and seminary leadership to reflect on the Lord’s work, consider matters related to the life and ministry of the seminary, and look ahead to the opportunities He continues to provide.
God’s Blessings Over the Past Year
Throughout the day, reports highlighted God’s abundant kindness to CBTS over the past year. From encouraging updates on our growing global ministry to exciting developments across the seminary, there was much reason to give thanks. Over the last year, we have seen the launch of our new Ph.D. program, the appointment of Dr. Timothy Decker as Director of the Th.M. program, the establishment of CBTS Press, the publishing of a festschrift in honor of Dr. Sam Waldron, continued progress in CBTS Español, and other initiatives that reflect the Lord’s ongoing blessing upon the seminary.
Grateful for Faithful Board Members
The opportunity to bring together the men who faithfully serve on our Board of Directors is a great blessing. Many of these men are pastors faithfully laboring week after week in their local churches. Their wisdom, counsel, and oversight are deeply rooted in the life of the church. We are very grateful for each board member and for the sacrificial service they render to the seminary.
Honoring Fred Malone
The meeting also provided an opportunity to honor Dr. Fred Malone upon his retirement from the Board of Directors after many years of faithful service. In appreciation for his time with us, he was presented with a gift basket as a small expression of our gratitude.
For many years, Dr. Malone has served CBTS not only as a board member but also as a professor, while faithfully shepherding the congregation the Lord entrusted to his care. His wisdom, encouragement, and commitment to confessional theological education have been a blessing to the seminary, and we thank God for his many years of service.
Looking Ahead with Thanksgiving
As we reflect on this year’s board meeting, our hearts are filled with gratitude to the Lord. Every encouraging report and every new opportunity ultimately points to His faithfulness. We thank God for His continued provision, for the churches and individuals who support this work, for the students He brings to CBTS, and for the faithful men who give their time and wisdom in serving on our Board of Directors.
Please join us in thanking the Lord for His abundant kindness to Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary and in praying that He would continue to bless this ministry for the glory of Christ and the strengthening of His church throughout the world.
